Officials with the Menninger Clinic, a psychiatric hospital that has been providing mental health care services to the Greater Houston area since 2003, announced the opening of a new center for treating substance use. The Center for Addiction Medicine and Recovery specializes in treating substance use and behavioral addiction that may be accompanied by a mental health issue.

President and CEO Armando Colombo said in a news release the number of people who are living with substance use disorders and addictions is growing.

"This new center expands our ability to offer patients innovative and effective treatment options that lead to better outcomes," said Colombo.

The details

Located just south of the Texas Medical Center, the new center is located on the second floor of the clinic's outpatient services center. Within the 8,300-square-feet of space, the Center for Addition Medicine and Recovery will have:
  • 10 therapy rooms
  • Two group meeting rooms
  • Observation suite for training professionals
  • Patient activity room

According to the news release, patients can seek assistance for substance use disorder as well as a variety of behavioral addictions such as gambling, spending or other processes that cause significant consequences.
