With Harris County early voting and ballot-by-mail results now in hand, Brian Witt leads in the race for Bellaire City Council Position 5.

Witt leads with 52.72% of the vote, compared to candidate Andréa Ehlers, who has amassed 47.28% of the vote. Witt leads by 119 votes, with 1,154 votes so far compared to the 1,035 votes for Ehlers.

The runoff election comes as neither Ehlers nor Witt received 50% of total votes needed to win the race for Bellaire City Council Position 5 during the Nov. 2 election. Ehlers received 1,837 votes, or 48.8%, compared to Witt, who received 1,825 votes, or 48.5%, according to the official tabulated results.

Meanwhile, Winfred Frazier won the race for Position 1 in November with 60.3% of the vote—2,228 votes—beating out opponent Kevin Newman, who took 39.7% of the vote, or 1,466 votes.

In the race for Position 3, Ross Gordon came out with the win in November after taking in 50.6% of the vote—1,908 votes—versus his opponent, Javier Vega, who came away with 49.4%, or 1,862 votes.

These results do not require a runoff election because only two candidates ran for the position.

No incumbents ran in any of the three council elections this year. The incumbent for Council Member Position 1, Neil Verma, was eligible to run but chose not to do so, while the council members for Positions 3 and 5—Gus Pappas and Michael Fife, respectively—are term-limited and are ineligible to run for City Council.
