In a statement, Caroline Kane, who is headed to a runoff against Kenneth Omoruyi in the U.S. Congressional District 7 Republican primary, said she received the endorsement of former opponent Carolyn Bryant, who received 19% of the vote in the Republican primary.

"I’m looking forward to doubling down my efforts in taking the Republican nomination in this runoff," Kane said via email.

Incumbent Lizzie Fletcher won the Democratic primary for U.S. Congressional District 7 with 74% of the vote, defeating challenger Pervez Agwan who garnered 26% of the vote.



“I am honored and proud to represent Texas’ Seventh Congressional District, and am grateful to the voters in this district for electing me as the Democratic nominee for Texas’ Seventh Congressional District in the 2024 election cycle," Fletcher said in a press release. "This campaign is, and always has been, a coalition of people from across our diverse and dynamic district who want to ensure that our community’s core values—inclusion, innovation, and collaboration—result in progress, equality, and opportunity for all Americans."

In November's general election, Fletcher will face either Kenneth Omoruyi or Caroline Kane, the two highest vote-getters in the Republican primary who are headed to a runoff election on May 28 after no candidate received a majority of the votes. Omoruyi garnered 42% of the vote, while Kane had 25% of the vote. The other two candidates, Carolyn Bryant and Tina Blum Cohen, followed with 19% and 15% of the vote, respectively.

Incumbent Lizzie Fletcher is maintaining her lead over Pervez Agwan with 71% of the vote in the Democratic primary for U.S. Congressional District 7.

In the Republican primary, Kenneth Omoruyi and Caroline Kane maintain their leads with 46% and 23% of the vote, respectively. The other two candidates, Carolyn Bryant and Tina Blum Cohen, trail with 18% and 13% of the vote, respectively. In races with more than two candidates, the top two vote-getters will advance to a runoff on May 28.

According to unofficial early voting results from Harris and Ford Bend counties, incumbent Lizzie Fletcher is leading against challenger Pervez Agwan in the Democratic primary for U.S. Congressional District 7 with 73% of the vote. Meanwhile, Kenneth Omoruyi and Caroline Kane are leading in the Republican primary with 47% and 23% of the vote, respectively.

The other two candidates in the District 7 Republican primary, Carolyn Bryant and Tina Blum Cohen, received 16% and 13% of the vote, respectively.

In races with more than two candidates, the top two vote-getters will advance to a runoff on May 28.


Also of note

A total of 211,223 Harris County residents and nearly 60,000 Fort Bend County voters voted during the early voting period between Feb. 20-March 1, according to prior reporting.
