Wishbone Pet Care is celebrating its 15-year anniversary of serving Missouri City pets with a September celebration, officials announced in a Aug. 18 news release.
What they offer
The pet care facility offers overnight boarding, dog daycare, consultations for grooming clients and dental cleaning, according to its website. The business offers three membership plans that range from $45 to $450 a month, offering perks like unlimited bath and cleaning services for the cheapest membership and unlimited doggy care for the latter.
Meet the owner
Owner Tammi Bui adopted her dog Benji right before Hurricane Ike hit in 2008, she said in an email. She said Benji showed her a sense of home and taught her what being a parent meant—leading her to found Wishbone Pet Care in 2011 with a mission of treating each dog like her own.
Bui said she had no background in the pet industry, but took a leap of faith because she felt something was missing in the community.
“I just knew there had to be a better way to care for pets in our community, something that felt like family instead of a franchise,” Bui said. “So, I built it.”
Bui has spent the past 15 years deepening connections with her clients and memorizing their pets' quirks. However, she said she does not want the company to grow in size because it runs on familiarity and one-on-one connections.
“Wishbone isn't my legacy—it's Benji's,” Bui said. “He passed away at fifteen and a half, and everything I've built here, every system, every policy, every person we've hired, comes back to the bond we had. This business is how I keep giving that back. To every pet and every pet parent who walks through our doors.”

Wishbone Pet Care officials invite Fort Bend County residents to visit the facility Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., for a celebration featuring free pet teeth and ear cleanings, drinks, snacks, raffles and games. The event will also feature pet adoption from the Fort Bend County Animal Services, who will receive 10% of the day’s proceeds.
Bui said the September event gives her a chance to build deeper roots in the community.
