Filipino bakery chain Red Ribbon Bakeshop closed its last Houston location at 8001 S. Main St. on Dec. 15.

The details

Red Ribbon Bakeshop is a Filipino bakery chain founded in 1979 with 500 locations world-wide and 30 bakeshops throughout the United States, according to the company's website.

Red Ribbon Bakeshop had two shops in Houston, with their original Houston location opening in 2014 at Main Street, and their second location later opening in 2022 at 13421 Westheimer Road. Both are now closed. The Main Street location was located next to iconic Filipino fried chicken fast food restaurant, Jollibee. The only Red Ribbon Bakeshop location in Texas is now located in San Antonio.

The bakery served classic Filipino desserts, from cheesy ensaimada, which is a soft bread topped with sugar and cheese, and halo-halo, which is a shaved ice dessert filled with fruits, beans and flan, to empanadas and cakes such as the purple Ube Overload, and even savory meals such as noodle dish palabok.
