A number of new businesses are slated to open around the Bellaire, West University and Rice University areas in June and throughout the summer, including a new book store and an eatery specializing in Detroit-style pizza.

1. Pure Green

Originally slated to open around late May, shop officials were still preparing finishing touches in early June before an expected opening in the near future. The chain specializes in superfood smoothies and snacks; cold-pressed juices and shots; acai bowls and a variety of flavored toasts. A new location of the dance education studio will open later in June in the Bellaire Shopping Center. Programs that will be offered by the new studio will include private one-on-one lesson, group lessons, practice parties, special wedding programs and competitive dancing lessons. Read more here.3. The bookstore will open in early July in the Weslayan Plaza in a spot that formerly housed a Tuesday Morning. It will feature a cafe, toys and games, as well as an expanded vinyl collection. Read more here.4. Milton's


Officials with Local Foods Group closed down the French eatery Eau Tour June 2 with plans to open a new Italian-American restaurant called Milton's at the Rice Village location in late summer. The upstairs wine bar Lees Den will remain open and is also undergoing a renovation to expand the bar and serve as a cocktail-focused speakeasy. Read more here.

5. Gold Tooth Tony's

Known for its Detroit-style pizza, the new eatery will open in late summer on Bellaire Boulevard near the Bellaire Triangle. The Houston-based concept also offers sandwiches, wings, garlic knots and lasagna. Read more here.
