The second annual Houston Theater Week will take place Aug. 14-20, providing individuals with a chance to access buy-one, get-one-free deals on shows in the 2023-24 season.

The weeklong event provides deals on more than 200 plays, ballets, operas and musical performances.

A total of 16 organizations are participating this year, including a variety of venues in Houston's Theater District, such as the Houston Ballet, Alley Theatre and The Hobby Center for Performing Arts. Other groups include the 4th Wall Theatre Company, found along the Washington Avenue Corridor; the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra; and Stages, located near Montrose just south of Allen Parkway.

“The opportunity to break down barriers to access and provide opportunities for our community to attend live performances strengthens the arts community in Houston by opening doors to new audiences and engaging our longtime supporters," Theater District Houston Chair Hillary Hart said in a statement. "We are excited to join forces with Houston First to showcase some exceptional programming through a campaign that makes it easy for everyone to find all the offers in one place. We want Theater Week to become a tradition for friends and families to experience the performing arts at a great price.”

Local government corporation and destination marketing organization Houston First Corporation first started Houston Theater Week in 2022 as a celebration of the city’s live theater and performing arts. During its inaugural year, 17,500 tickets were sold by 20 organizations totaling nearly $600,000 in sales, according to an Aug. 2 news release.
