Due to wet weather last week, work to repair a storm sewer line under South Shore Boulevard was delayed from Nov. 13-20 to Nov. 20-27, which will force motorists to take detours parts of this week and next.

Crews will repair an 84-inch-diameter storm sewer line that crosses under the road near its intersection with FM 518. The line failed, creating a sinkhole that needs to be fixed before the road is damaged, according to a League City posting.

As part of the work, a 40-foot section of the road and a portion of the adjacent sidewalk will be removed and replaced. During the work, residents who want to travel north along South Shore at FM 518 will instead have to travel east or west on FM 518, turn onto Main Street and backtrack to South Shore, according to the posting.
