HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, 500 W. Medical Center Blvd, Webster, recently celebrated the completion of its 100th trascatheter aortic valve replacement surgery, according to a Jan. 14 news release. The hospital is one of the first in the Bay Area to offer such a procedure. A minimally invasive alternative to open-heart surgery, trascatheter aortic valve replacement surgery replaces damaged aortic valves through a catheter without surgeons needing to cut open the chest to expose the heart.
Dr. Pranav Loyalka said in the release that the community will benefit from the expertise available at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake.
“Before the expertise was only in the Medical Center. Now, with this being in the community, it’s a lot easier for the patients and their families,” Loyalka said in the release.
