League City residents will pay higher water and wastewater rates in fiscal year 2025-26, which begins in October.

League City City Council voted 5-2 on Jan. 28 to raise the city’s water and wastewater rates. Council members Tommy Cones and Andy Mann voted against adopting the new rates but did not give reasons for their votes at the meeting.

The new monthly services charge rate increases are as follows for a 5/8" and 3/4" meter:
  • From $8.26 to $9.08 for single-family residential customers and commercial customers
The rate of charge per 1,000 gallons used up to 3,000 gallons for all meter sizes has increased:
  • From $2.50 to $3 per 1,000 gallons for single-family residential customer
  • From $4.50 to $4.95 per 1,000 gallons for a commercial customer
For wastewater, the new monthly services charge rate increases are as follows for all meter sizes:
  • From $15.32 to $16.84 for single-family residential customers and for commercial use
The rate of charge per 1,000 gallons used up to 3,000 gallons for all meters has increased:
  • From $2.75 to $3.02 per 1,000 gallons for single-family residential customer
  • From $4.25 to $4.67 per 1,000 gallons for a commercial customer

The water and wastewater fees fund the city’s Utility Operating Fund, which is used to pay for water and wastewater operations and improvements, according to city documents.
