League City artists can now apply to participate in the city’s inaugural Artist in Residence program, a nine-month residency that offers artists a free space and an inspiring environment to create works of art.

What you need to know

Up to three selected artists will receive free studio space for nine months in a historic city-owned building located at Heritage Park, 1220 Coryell St., League City, according to a news flash from the city. The studio will be available for use from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

In exchange for the studio space, artists will offer free classes or workshops for residents and participate in open houses, artist talks and gallery events.

In exchange for the free studio space, the artist will:
  • Host a workshop or provide a class three times throughout their residency
  • Participate in a in a minimum of two open houses, artist talk or gallery events with other artists participating in the residency
  • Address the Keep League Beautiful Citizen Committee at least once during their residency
  • Provide all their own materials, supplies, equipment and furniture for their studio space
  • Donate a piece of artwork to the city’s public art program
To be eligible to apply, applicants must be 18 years or older, demonstrate a sustained commitment to their art, and reside in League City or within a 20-mile radius.
