Through Dec. 17, pet adoptions at League City Animal Care & Adoption Center will be free instead of the normal $75 fee.

What you need to know

The free pet adoptions are a part of the BISSELL Pet Foundation's Holiday Hope event, according to a Dec. 3 news flash from League City.

BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event is the largest funded adoption event in the country.

Since 2016, BISSELL Pet Foundation has enabled 300,000 adoptions through nationwide events, according to its website.

What else?

A report published Nov. 12 showed that the League City shelter had 56 dogs and 28 cats. Those numbers put the shelter at high capacity for dogs, and normal capacity for cats.

Community Impact previously reported that the shelter previously waived adoption fees earlier in the year as a result of “critical” capacity issues.
