League City approved its $333 million budget and no-new-revenue tax rate, marking the 12th consecutive year the city’s property tax rate has decreased.

League City City Council unanimously approved the final reading of the city’s proposed $333 million budget and a tax rate of $0.356505 per $100 valuation of a home for fiscal year 2026-27 at its Sept. 8 meeting.

The approved budget features public safety as the single largest operational cost, according to city documents.
The League City Police Department accounts for around $30 million of the general fund’s expenses.

Council member Tommy Cones made an amendment to the budget to add the Oaks of Clear Creek trail system around the detention pond with connectivity to Hwy. 3 in the CenterPoint subdivision in this year’s CIP.
Cones asked city staff to find funding sources for the design phase in 2027 and construction in 2028.
Mayor Nick Long said he recently met a Houston Police Department officer who lives in the Oaks of Clear Creek subdivision, supports the project, and hopes to work with the League City Police Department to ensure homeowners near the trailheads are protected once the project is completed.
