With all 49 polling centers reporting, Republican challenger Hank Dugie has won the race for Galveston County Commissioner Precinct 3, according to unofficial election results from the county.

Dugie's win means he will unseat Democrat incumbent Stephen Holmes, who has held the seat since 1999.

Dugie has 26,675 votes to Holmes' 12,058 votes, unofficial results show.

Results are unofficial until canvassed in the weeks after the election.

As of 10:45 p.m., unofficial voting results show Republican Hank Dugie likely to win the race for Galveston County Commissioner Precinct 3.

With 32 of 49 polling centers reporting, Dugie has 24,955 votes, compared to Democrat Stephen Holmes, who 11,175 votes, early results show.

"I'm proud to have the support of my neighbors in Precinct 3 and look forward to serving them on Commissioners Court," Dugie said. "Together we will create a safer and more prosperous community for generations to come. I want to thank Commissioner Holmes for his decades of service to Galveston County and the example he has set."

As of 7:45 p.m., Dugie has 22,591 votes, compared to Democrat Stephen Holmes, who 9,799 votes, early results show.

Meet the candidates


Holmes is the incumbent candidate who has served as Galveston County Commissioner for Precinct 3 since 1999. Holmes did not respond to participate in a Q&A with Community Impact in September.

Dugie previously served as county treasurer and serves on the Dickinson Bayou Watershed Steering Committee. In his Q&A response, Dugie said he wanted to enhance public safety and invest in critical traffic and drainage infrastructure.
