League City to hold special election to fill council Position 4

League City will hold a special election Jan. 13 to fill City Council Position 4, which was formerly held by John Bowen until Nov. 9 when the former council member stepped down, objecting to financial disclosure laws.

In-person early voting began Dec. 27 and will end at 5 p.m. Jan. 9. Election day voting will be held Jan. 13, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the following locations:
  • Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center, 400 West Walker St.
  • Public Works Operations Center, 1701 W. League City Parkway
  • Hometown Heroes Park,1001 E. League City Parkway
League City to add more flock cameras

Following an uptick in break-ins, League City will this year install 28 new flock cameras in parks and along roadways to deter and catch criminals. The move comes on top of an earlier installment of 42 cameras, which was completed in August.


League City to host New Year Fun Run

Runner’s can lace up for the New Year Fun Run 1-mile and 5K race Jan. 6. The 1-mile run will start at 9 a.m., and the 5K run will start at 9:30 a.m., according to a news release. T-shirts will be available to the first 150 that register. The registration fee is $30.
