For the next few months, League City City Council will hold meetings at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center because the council chambers next door are under renovation.

The building at 200 W. Walker St, League City, which also serves as the city’s municipal courtroom, is undergoing a revamp that will include upgrading the main chamber, lobby and restrooms, according to a city news release.

Additionally, new information technology and video streaming equipment will be installed. A new video wall behind the dais and screens will be installed, which will allow residents and council members to see presentations more clearly, the release said.

“It’ll improve the clarity of what’s being presented, and it also will make it easier for the council members to see what’s going on at the dais,” Director of Information Technology and Facilities Ryan Smith said.

The demolition of the interior of the building is nearly complete, a League City official said Jan. 12. The tentative completion date is April, weather permitting.
