What to expect
Per an Oct. 15 news release, attendees this season can expect colorful moving lights through an immersive Twinkle Train as well as cookie decorating stations and a new holiday tree.
Guests can also enjoy snow created by a snow machine, life-sized animal lanterns, oak trees wrapped with winter lights and vibrant lights in the Enchanted Forest.Dates to know
Sip and Sparkle: On Nov. 21, adults 21 and older are invited to stroll through the Houston Zoo grounds to enjoy the Zoo Lights without the kids. Each tasting pass includes six 2-ounce wine samples, a tasting card and a souvenir cup.
Sensory Inclusive Zoo Lights: The evening of Dec. 2, guests can expect a smaller zoo crowd, quieter music, limited flashing lights and designated quiet areas.Also of note
The Houston Zoo protects wildlife by only using energy-saving LED lights during Zoo Lights, according to the release. LED lights use 85% less power than incandescent lights, allowing the Houston Zoo to conserve energy.
Additionally, guests can help save animals in the wild this holiday season by recycling their old or broken lights at the Houston Zoo. According to the release, recycling lights keeps them out of landfills, creating more space for animals.
