Harris County made changes prior to the start of early voting for its voting machines to print paper records, officials said.

In a nutshell

At the end of 2020, the county upgraded to its new voting machine, the Verity Duo, said Rosio Torres-Segura, communications administrator for the Harris County Clerk's Office.

The Verity Duo combines digital and print capabilities, and was developed by Hart InterCivic, Torres-Segura said in a statement.

The machines now produce a paper record for a ballot to be printed on one sheet.

How it works

The clerk's office has made a video showing how to use its machines in four languages: English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Mandarin.

After choosing a language, voters:
  1. Make their choices on the touchscreen display.
  2. Review the page, allowing them to double check their choices.
  3. Print the ballot.
  4. Insert the ballot into a scanning device.
What’s next?

Election Day is Nov. 5, but voters can cast their ballots early through Nov. 1.
