About 686,500 in-person and mail ballot votes had been cast in Harris County halfway through the 12-day early voting period ahead of the Nov. 5 general election, according to the county clerk’s office.

Community Impact previously reported county officials estimated 70% of ballots for this election would be cast during the early voting period. So far, 27% of the county's 2.68 million registered voters have cast their ballots, officials said.
By the numbers

In the November 2020 general election, about 629,000 voters cast their ballots in the first six days of early voting. However, there were 18 total days of early voting that year, and by the halfway point, turnout was about 26% higher than at the halfway point this year.

Nearly 1.44 million early ballots were cast in total in the November 2020 general election, followed by another 221,500 votes cast on Election Day. At the time, that amounted to 69.14% voter turnout in Harris County.

Of the 88 countywide early voting sites, the two busiest polling locations so far are both located in the Cypress area—the Richard & Meg Weekley Center saw nearly 24,000 in-person voters in the first week of early voting, followed by Juergen’s Hall Community Center with 21,237 in-person ballots cast.
