Tom Crews

There have been discussions about putting another bond before League City voters. What projects should be included in the bond?

I would like to address the remaining areas needing flood mitigation. I would like to see sidewalks repaired and road changes made so that children can walk to school rather than being dropped off in car lines. I would hope to see the expansion of the library service to handle the west side of town and a community center and park on the west side. We can accomplish much without needing a new bond issue.

If elected, what would be your priorities?

My highest priority would be to gather information. Only a partial amount of information is discussed publicly, and I need to be ready to hit the ground running. I will listen to what the citizens want and need. I want to understand their concerns, and if these issues cannot be accomplished or fixed in this financial year, I will advance the feasible items so that they may be added to next year's budget.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I bring a wealth of experience and financial knowledge. I have built my accounting practice on listening, teaching and often having to tell the clients bad news or explain why things cannot be handled as they would like. Compassion and honesty are the skill sets that the city needs at the time. The citizens trust City Council with their tax dollars, and I will not see their money wasted.

Chris Dodson

Experience: VP for Tuscan Lakes HOA for roughly three years, eight years of estimating and project manager experience

Occupation: estimator/project manager

There have been discussions about putting another bond before League City voters. What projects should be included in the bond?

New schools for future housing developments, new fire/police stations, both more likely on the west side of League City due to future growth and to repair any other infrastructure that needs it and is not covered under the current capital projects.

If elected, what would be your priorities?

To understand why it's so hard to build in League City so we can attract for commercial business, more family fun type commercial business. I am running for an unexpired term and I don't have a lot of time, but I like the challenge. I feel we are losing revenue to the north because of this and families not being able to enjoy it right here at home.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I was the VP of my HOA for roughly three years and though a much smaller scale it still had the same principles to me. I enjoy serving the people and the community. I am not a politician, and I believe what I believe. The choices I make affect my family, and if elected they will affect the city. I have 28 years of construction experience as well.

There have been discussions about putting another bond before League City voters. What projects should be included in the bond?

I'm generally supportive of projects which 1.) position the city to meet the demands of the next 60 years 2.) contribute to our infrastructure resilience 3.) strengthen the connection between our residents and the places we share. The city's master plans identify $300[M]-$400M of potential (yet unfunded) capital improvements. The next bond could draw from that list and fund: 1.) the capacity expansion of the Southwest Water Reclamation Facility and/or 2.) the Westover Park Project.

If elected, what would be your priorities?

I will focus on existing bond programs and confirm that projects are completing as expected, on-time and on-budget. I will promote stability and predictability wherever possible by: 1.) prioritizing city staff retention 2.) continuing the reinvestment program to guarantee our infrastructure is maintained and meeting the needs of today and tomorrow 3.) continuing the regional approach to flooding and working with our neighboring communities to keep the area safe, clean and green.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

My family's lived in League City since the 1930s. I understand why (in my lifetime) 100K new neighbors found and made LC their home. Despite surface differences, I understand that all anyone really wants are competent and ethical leaders working together in a way that best serves the public interest. I'm committed to those values and offer my voice to represent the citizens of my hometown. I promise to execute with transparency and full accountability.
