QUESTIONS

Q: If elected, what will be your top three priorities?

Clark: Over the past 10 years, I've helped lead the charge in reducing the county's portion of resident's tax rate by 30% below the effective rate—delivering real tax cuts to taxpayers. My top priorities are to continue cutting tax rates while also pushing for appraisal reform at the state level; continue investing in regional and local flooding projects; and continue pushing for transportation and infrastructure enhancements to increase mobility within our county.

Q: How do you plan on addressing concerns of flooding in the area?

Clark: Galveston County is in the process of acquiring property for flood detention by leveraging federal and state grant dollars with bond funds from the 2019 infrastructure bond passed by voters. Over the past four years while in office, Galveston County has committed nearly $60 million in local flood mitigation projects and by partnering with regional and local entities to prioritize the best use of funds to have the greatest benefits to residents in the county.

Q: Do you believe that the process of redistricting is fair or unfair?

Clark: Redistricting happens after every decade after the census is completed, and Galveston County fairly and legally drew the new boundaries for the Commissioners Court precincts.
