Looking at a potential $13.5 million shortfall for the upcoming fiscal year 2025-26, Clear Creek ISD officials are planning to give another budget update at an Aug. 11 board workshop.

The overview

As of its July 14 workshop, the district is projecting over $429.6 million in expenses and just over $414 million in revenue. The revenue, along with $2.1 million in other sources, lands the most updated projected shortfall at $13.5 million, Community Impact previously reported.

This shortfall is also projected with the current tax rate of $0.9690 per $100 valuation of a home, budget documents note.
In case you missed it

Trustees also approved the 2025-26 compensation plan at its July 28 meeting, Community Impact previously reported.

This plan included the following:
  • $1,875 increase for teachers with one to two years of experience
  • $2,500 increase for teachers with three to four years of experience
  • $5,000 increase for teachers with five or more years of experience
  • $64,000 as the new teacher salary, which is a $2,500 increase to the 2024-25 starting teacher salary
  • 3% increase for all other employees
  • Market adjustments for employees in identified positions to improve recruitment and retention, which includes speech-language pathologists and counselors
While the total cost of the compensation plan will be nearly $18 million, state funding will cover about $12 million of it. CCISD will cover the rest, district documents note.

Looking ahead

The board workshop will be at 5 p.m. Aug. 11 at the district’s Education Support Center, located at 2425 E. Main St., League City.

After that, the board will meet Aug. 25 to consider adopting the budget and Sept. 22 to consider adopting the 2025 tax rate, according to district documents.
