Technology replacements and roofing projects will be taking place over the summer at Clear Creek ISD after the board of trustees approved over $5 million for technology replacements and over $4.3 million for roofing replacements at various campuses at its March 31 meeting.

The gist

The board of trustees approved items with multiple vendors for the following projects:
  • $3.2 million to replace about 6,500 laptops for incoming sixth and eighth graders
  • $1.1 million to replace all projectors and upgrade audio-visual equipment in professional buildings and the Education Support Center board room
  • $500,000 to replace 1,000 docking stations and 90 desktops throughout the district
  • $250,000 for future purchases relating to information technology hardware, software and services
All replacement projects will take place over the summer, according to district agenda documents.

Each purchase will be paid through general funds, capital funds and the 2023 bond, according to district documents. Documents did not specify what each entity would pay for within each project.

What else?

The board of trustees also approved two construction projects with Houston-based roofing contractor TADCO Roofing.

The first project approved, worth over $2 million, will replace the roof of the main building at Hyde Elementary and the old gym roof at McWhirter Elementary, district documents note.

The second project, worth nearly $2.3 million, will replace the roof of the boys’ athletic area at Clear Lake High School and the main building roof at Clear Lake City Elementary.

Both projects will be paid through the 2023 bond and are slated to be completed by Aug. 31, according to district documents.
