Clear Creek ISD officials will replace the video board at Challenger Columbia Stadium and central plants at Clear Creek High School after the board of trustees approved the facility and construction projects at its Dec. 14 meeting.

The overview

The video board at Challenger Columbia Stadium will cost $1.2 million to replace, according to district agenda documents.

The current video board is “nearing the end of its lifecycle and is no longer reliable without continual repair with costly replacement parts,” district documents note.

The district recently approved selling land near Parr Elementary. If the sale is completed and the district receives funding in time, the 2013 bond will fund video board replacement project. If CCISD does not receive funding in time from the sale, capital and contingency funds will be used for the project, according to district documents.

The project is planned to be completed by April in time for graduation ceremonies in May, according to district documents.

What else?

The central plant replacements at Clear Creek High School will cost about $3.35 million, according to district documents.

The replacement request from officials stem from the age of equipment and a need for constant repairs, CCISD’s Facility Services Director Alex Aragon said at the meeting.

The project will be funded through the 2023 bond, but it comes over budget by about $1.56 million due to needed redesigns and changes to the current piping system, as well as equipment that was originally left out of the bond’s budget, Aragon said at the meeting.

Construction on that project will begin immediately and will be complete by the end of July, according to district documents.
