Alvin Community College will offer Bachelor’s of Applied Science degrees in business administration and management beginning this fall.

The overview

Students must complete an associate degree in applied science to be eligible, according to an April 18 news release from the college.

ACC instructors, staff members and instructional leadership began research on the feasibility of this degree program in spring 2021, according to the news release.

The program is pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges, the Schools Commission on Colleges and the Department of Education. It will not be eligible for financial aid until all approvals are completed, according to the news release.

Quote of note

“I am delighted that ACC is joining the growing number of community colleges now offering the baccalaureate degree,” ACC President Robert J. Exley said. “Throughout my career, I have often heard students express their wish that we should offer bachelor’s degrees because they love the college and hate to go somewhere else. We offer excellent academics as a two-year college. We embrace our students, support our students and believe in our students. To serve them through the completion of their four-year degree is simply wonderful.”
