Clear Creek ISD officials cut the ribbon on a newly renovated Whitcomb Elementary School on Nov. 10, marking the final major project of the district’s 2017 bond program, according to a Nov. 20 news release from the district.

The school was built in 1967, with construction on the renovations beginning in May 2022, according to the release. Some of the updates include:
  • Additional educational classroom needs
  • New walking tracks
  • Renovations to the administrative area, cafeteria and library
  • Technology and safety enhancements
“This building serves as much more than a school; it is a hub of our community,” Principal Betsy Horner said in the release and at the ceremony. “Diversity and inclusivity are trademarks which set Whitcomb apart. We look forward to many years of hosting events where families from all backgrounds and cultures feel welcome and celebrated.”

The budget for the project was about $28.6 million, according to the release. Since the bond was approved in 2018, the district has carried out nearly 60 projects.
