Clear Creek ISD Superintendent Karen Engle will retire in April, according to an Oct. 5 release from CCISD.
“Serving the students, families and employees of Clear Creek ISD has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” Engle said in the release. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside trustees, parents, staff and community members to ensure our children experience a world-class education.”
How we got here
The board named Engle as superintendent in December 2022, following former Superintendent Eric Williams’ leave of absence and announcement of voluntary retirement in July 2022, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.
Engle accepted the position after retiring earlier in 2021, following a decades-long career in education in which she served as an assistant principal, an elementary and high school principal and the assistant superintendent of secondary education.
According to the board
“Dr. Engle has led with vision, compassion and a deep commitment to providing students a world-class education,” Board President Jonathan Cottrell said in the release. “Her contributions have positively impacted thousands of students and staff. We thank her for extraordinary service and wish her well in her retirement.”
Now what?
The board of trustees will begin planning for the superintendent transition process and will provide updates regarding next steps and stakeholder input, according to the release.
