The Clear Creek ISD board of trustees unanimously approved the 2023-24 academic school year calendar at the Jan. 23 board meeting.

The board approved Calendar Draft A out of four drafts, which were developed by the District Education Improvement Committee calendar subcommittee.

"I know that no matter what we vote on tonight that not everyone is going to be happy," board trustee Jessica Cejka said.

The 2023-24 school year is set to start on Aug. 22 and end on May 31.

The district held a survey for community and staff members through November on three calendar drafts, then extended voting into December with four new drafts, Community Impact previously reported.

"I want to commend administration and staff for pulling [the calendar] back," Board President Jay Cunningham said.

The two most popular calendar drafts were calendar drafts A and D, which mainly differed in their winter break schedule, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Susan Silva said.

As a part of the same agenda item, the district approved the elementary summer school instructional dates for summer 2023. Summer school will be held from June 6-27 for students, according to the agenda.

The calendar may be subject to change as a result of inclement weather or mandates by the Texas Legislature.
