The Clear Creek ISD board of trustees held a workshop meeting June 13 to select new staff based on the superintendent’s recommendations.

The CCISD board voted unanimously to select Angela Hinkelman as the director of professional learning and Jeff Kohlenberg as controller. A controller manages finances for the district, including accounting, payroll and budget. The meeting agenda included considering a recommendation for the director of special education services, but the item was skipped by the board for further conversation.

“Angela has over 20 years of experience in education, recently serving as assistant principal at Katy ISD,” CCISD Superintendent Eric Williams said. “We are also pleased about [Kohlenberg] returning. ... He served with Clear Creek already for more than 20 years.”

The board approved the monthly human resources report, which included a change in contract for seven CCISD employees in the 2022-2023 school year. In the report, Leah Bossi was promoted from alternative academics instructional specialist to assistant director of secondary special education services, three Clear Falls High School teachers added coaching duties, and two Bayside Intermediate School teachers had their coaching duties removed.

Additionally, the board held two closed sessions. The first session was described in the agenda as the deliberation of the “appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignments, duties, discipline or dismissal of a public employee or to hear a complaint or charge against an employee.” Following this session was the appointment of Hinkelman and Kohlenberg.

The second separate session at the end of the meeting was held to “deliberate superintendent’s summative evaluation.” This follows a closed-door session June 6, where a superintendent summative evaluation conference was held. These sessions are part of an annual evaluation process for the sitting superintendent.

Closed sessions like these are solely intended for board member deliberation; no actions are taken by the board in sessions not viewable by the public.
