Of 17 Greater Houston-area school districts, Alief and Alvin ISDs have the highest starting teacher salaries for the 2021-22 school year at $59,700 and $59,500, respectively, according to analysis by Community Impact Newspaper. Willis ISD starting salary is the lowest at about $54,000 in 2021-22.

As school districts across the Greater Houston area finalize teacher salaries for the 2021-22 school year, Community Impact Newspaper compiled starting teacher salaries for each local district covered by the newspaper.
Out of the 17 districts analyzed, the average starting teacher salary sits at about $57,500. Eleven school districts pay above the average, while Houston, Katy, Tomball, Friendswood, Montgomery and Willis ISDs fall below average.

The analysis does not include Clear Creek ISD because the district has not yet finalized its starting teacher salary for the coming school year. CCISD's starting teacher salary for the 2020-21 school year was $56,000. Additionally, Conroe ISD's starting teacher salary is proposed as of July 1.
