Clear Creek ISD, the 28th largest district in Texas, is situated in both Harris and Galveston counties. In recent years, the district has maintained a staff of about 5,000 total employees, according to CCISD’s 2018-19 accountability report.
CCISD has 2,517 full-time teachers and a retention rate of 87.4%. Teachers have a starting salary of $62,129, and the superintendent makes $325,678 a year.
The district's student body includes 28% of economically disadvantaged students compared to the state average of 60.24%. A total of 13% of CCISD students are English language learners versus the state average of 20.26%.
CCISD has seen slow enrollment growth the last five years.
A native central New Yorker, Colleen worked as an editorial intern with the Cy-Fair and Lake Houston | Humble | Kingwood editions of Community Impact Newspaper before joining the Bay Area team in 2020.
