1. Baso

The dinner-only restaurant is open from Wednesday-Sunday and has caviar service as well as a variety of fish, fungi, oyster and nonseafood options—such as venison—according to the menu. Besides cocktails and wine options, guests also have a dessert menu that includes tarta de queso, or a cheese tart; pandan tres leches; a chocolate-flavored flan; and a lemon parfait.

2. Dessert Gallery Bakery & Cafe

The bakery has opened in its second storefront, which is located in The Woodlands. According to a news release, the bakery originated on Kirby Drive and has been a Houston staple since 1995. Dessert Gallery Bakery & Cafe is recognized for its desserts and contributions to the community, and it offers homemade sweet treats, such as fresh-baked cookies, cakes and pies as well as cupcakes and brownies, according to the release.

3. Boba Chic Tea & Waffles

Boba Chic Tea & Waffles offers a fusion of traditional and modern flavors through boba teas and waffles. Milk tea flavors include matcha, Thai, chocolate and coffee. Fruit teas include mango, raspberry, lychee, peach and strawberry. The waffles are made with a bubble waffle, powdered sugar, sprinkles, whipped cream and waffle sticks. Customers have the option to build their own boba waffle with their choice of toppings and ice cream.

Chick Houz, a Peruvian restaurant, has opened along Tomball Parkway in north Houston, chef Roberto Castre confirmed via email. The restaurant features a varied menu that includes rotisserie chicken, sandwiches, salads and bowls, according to its website.

5. The Rusty Buckle BBQ Co.

Following a fire at its brick-and-mortar location in November, The Rusty Buckle BBQ Co. began serving barbecue out of its new food trailer Jan. 31, officials with the East Montgomery County Improvement District announced Jan. 30. The Rusty Buckle BBQ Co. serves a variety of barbecued meats, ranging from brisket and pulled pork to jalapeno cheese sausage and pork ribs. Sides, such as Dirty Mac and Rusted Tater Salad, and desserts, such as Dr. Pepper Cake and Apple Pie Eggroll, are also available.

6. Magdalena's

A new neighborhood Italian restaurant is now open in West University Place. Magdalena's Trattoria & Pizzeria brings "fresh, authentic" handmade pasta, hand-tossed pizza, grilled specialty items and Italian dessert to a restaurant space with the capacity for 97 guests, including bar seating and a patio, according to a Feb. 13 news release.
