A Feb. 8 Dessert Gallery Bakery & Cafe news release announced the bakery opened in its second storefront, which is located in The Woodlands. According to the release, the bakery originated on Kirby Drive and has been a Houston staple since 1995.

The overview

Dessert Gallery Bakery & Cafe is recognized for its desserts and contributions to the community, and it offers homemade sweet treats, such as fresh-baked cookies, cakes and pies as well as cupcakes and brownies, according to the release.

The bakery was founded by Sara Brook, a fifth-generation Houstonian who learned to read off the back of a chocolate chip cookie package, according to the release.

“We are so excited to officially open The Woodlands location of Dessert Gallery,” Brook said in the release. “We have been creating sweet memories with the Houston community for nearly 30 years, and expanding into The Woodlands was the natural next step.”

The new location boasts a 1,150-square-foot indoor space with seating for 12 guests plus an eight-seat outdoor patio.

Craving sweets?

Dessert Gallery Bakery & Cafe’s location in The Woodlands will feature its original menu, including signature sweets such as tres leches; chocolate-dipped chocolate chunk cookies; strawberry dream cake; and Brookies, Brook’s personal favorite dark chocolate cookies with chocolate chunks.

The Woodlands cafe also offers a selection of cakes, including old-fashioned diner cake, carrot cake, birthday cake and dark chocolate layered cake.

The new location features new menu items introduced at the end of last year, including Billionaire Brownies, fudge brownies with toasted pecans and chocolate glaze splashed with gold; Fruity Pebbles cookies; decadent marble cake with a pudding-like chocolate buttercream frosting; French silk pie with Oreo crust; and dessert slabs, giant sheets of portioned cake available in butter pecan, funfetti with caramel buttercream, orange creamsicle and strawberry crunch.
