Lots at the new Legacy subdivision in League City are expected to be completed in March, setting the stage for the first homes to start going up, officials with developer Hillwood Communities confirmed in a Jan. 23 email.

What you need to know

Phase one of the new subdivision is “well underway,” Hillwood spokesperson Kurt Watkins said. Paving and slab pours for those homes will begin in the next two weeks.

Once that is complete, companies partnering with Hillwood will be set to begin constructing model homes at the subdivision in the second quarter, Watkins said. Watkins said model homes will be the first homes built at the subdivision.

How we got here

Hillwood broke ground on the Legacy subdivision in March, Community Impact previously reported. Marking Hillwood’s third Houston-area development, Legacy’s first phase will be more than 800 acres in size and consist of more than 500 homes, multiple pools and a recreation center.

Officials said in July they expected the development’s first phase to have homes ready starting in 2025.

The project is expected to be built out over the next decade and eventually total around 1,600 homes, officials said.

It is one of many burgeoning developments on the west side of League City.

What else?

As homes are getting set to go up, the development has finished work related to setting up the subdivision, Watkins said. Underground utilities are now complete and design work for landscaping along League City Parkway is going to begin soon.

As part of that, officials completed an extension of League City parkway in the summer of 2024, Community Impact previously reported.
