Galveston County Health District will administer this week's second-dose vaccines Feb. 19 for scheduled appointments only, according to a news alert sent just before 5 p.m. Feb. 18.

Those with appointments for Feb. 19 should arrive at their scheduled time. The county prefers that those who had appointments Feb. 17 arrive between 9 a.m. and noon; people with Feb. 18 appointments are asked to arrive between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m.

If anyone with an appointment is unable to make it to the health district, located at 9850 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, for their appointment Feb. 19, GCHD will reach out to reschedule for next week, per the news alert.

Those receiving vaccines will need to have their COVID-19 vaccine card and, if possible, should have completed the pre-vaccination checklist.

Feb. 19 second-dose vaccinations will not be given to walk-ins. Anyone interested in getting a COVID-19 vaccine in Galveston County can register on a waitlist, which was set up in late January to simplify the registration process at University of Texas Medical Branch and GCHD sites.

The registration process involves setting up an online account and answering a series of questions regarding health status. The information given is used to prioritize the most vulnerable populations as distribution is rolled out.
