A total of 38 county residents have died. During a webinar June 8, Galveston County Precinct 4 Commissioner Ken Clark said 32 of those deaths were affiliated with long-term care facilities, which officials have said contributes to Galveston County's higher mortality rate when compared to Harris County.

The case count total includes outbreaks at five nursing homes in League City, Texas City and Friendswood, accounting for 221 cases, or about 21.5% of the county's total cases.
