Democratic candidate Lesley Briones has a 3 percentage point advantage over Republican incumbent Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle with all 782 Harris County polling centers reporting.
Unofficial results from the Office of the Harris County Elections Administrator show Briones with 51.62% of the vote and Cagle with 48.38% for a 7,617 vote lead.
In a statement, Briones said she was grateful to the voters for placing confidence in her and thanked Cagle—who has held the position since 2011—for his service.
"Now, the campaign is over, and I look forward to representing each and every individual in Precinct 4," Briones said. "I will strive to make Harris County an even more inclusive, vibrant place where everyone has a fair shot."
Cagle had not yet provided a statement at the time of publication.
With Briones' and Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia's likely wins and a concession from Alexandra del Moral Mealer, Republican candidate for Harris County judge, the 3-2 Democratic majority in Commissioners Court will shift to a 4-1 majority in January with Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey serving as the sole Republican.
