The beginning of 2020 showed that travel at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport was higher than in 2019. But when the travel industry screeched to a virtual halt in March and April, those travel numbers took a nosedive.
However, travelers have been passing through the DFW Airport in greater volumes than in April, according to data provided by the airport. While June 2020 saw about 68% fewer travelers than in June 2019, there were still more than four and a half times more travelers passing through the airport than in April.
April 2020 saw about 92% less traffic than in April 2019, with about roughly 484,000 travelers. That improved to 2.2 million travelers in June.
DFW Airport was on the receiving end of nearly $300 million in federal grant money made available through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
