Frisco roundabouts, Richardson Main Street: See 5 DFW transportation updates

Upcoming projects

1. Frisco Street roundabout additions

Project: Four roundabouts will be added along Frisco Street at Technology Drive, Sports Village Road, All Stars Avenue and Research Road. The intersections will be converted from intersections to multilane roundabouts.

Update: The project is in the design phase with bidding for construction expected early next year.

2. Spring Creek corridor intersection improvements

Project: New turning lanes, concrete pavement, barrier free ramp reconstruction, sidewalk replacement and signal modifications will be added along Spring Creek Parkway at Jupiter Road, Chase Oaks Drive, Ohio Drive, Preston Meadow Road and Parkwood Boulevard.

Update: The design phase is complete, said Clay Lipscomb, Plano community investment project engineering manager. Construction is estimated to start in 2027.

Ongoing projects

3. Choate Parkway reconstruction

Project: Choate Parkway will be reconstructed from a two-lane roadway to a six-lane divided roadway from Coit Road to Roseland Parkway. The project is shared between the city and the adjacent subdivision developer.

Update: The section from Roseland Parkway to the roundabout toward Custer Road is now open to traffic, according to the city’s social media. Roseland Parkway to Timber Ridge Drive is expected to open by the end of July based on weather conditions, and Timber Ridge Drive to Coit Road is expected to begin construction in roughly two months once utility conflicts are resolved, per social media.

4. Main Street reconstruction

Project: Construction on Main Street between Greenville Avenue and North Walton Street includes paving improvements, water and sewer updates, new landscaping and streetlight upgrades.

Update: All lanes on Main Street in Richardson are now open during peak travel times, according to a news release from the city. Crews are finishing sidewalk, landscaping and other infrastructure improvements, and the project is expected to be finished in July depending on weather conditions.

Completed projects

5. FM 1938 median construction

Project: Work included constructing a raised concrete median along FM 1938 in Keller between East Southlake Boulevard and city limits, which is complete. The project is part of a larger median construction project along FM 1938 that extends through Keller and North Richland Hills.

Update: City officials are working with the Texas Department of Transportation on the irrigation and landscaping improvements, which will be a later phase of the project. The design phase is 95% completed, according to city documents.
