For 34 years, Randy’s Steakhouse has been a fixture in Frisco’s Rail District, serving generations of diners while continuing a legacy dating back to July 1992.
Owned and operated by Randy Burks, the building’s history dates back to 1869 as the T.C. Campbell home, built just after the Civil War.
On the menu
Randy’s Steakhouse serves a steakhouse menu centered on hand-cut steaks such as filet mignon, New York strip steaks and rib-eye selections, along with preparations including the popular blackberry filet and stuffed filet.
The menu also features seafood dishes like crab cakes, scallops, salmon and parmesan-crusted tilapia. Desserts include creme brulee, bread pudding and chocolate mousse. Also available for diners is the wine program, highlighted by regular five-course themed wine dinners and weekday happy hour specials.
Burks said the steakhouse’s wine program remains a defining part of the dining experience, which features more than 150 selections to pair with steaks and seafood dishes.
“One of the keys to our success has been respecting tradition while embracing creativity,” Burks said. “While our customer base has expanded, we've remained committed to providing the same warm hospitality, exceptional food, and personal service that have defined us since day one."
For Burks, nearly every decision in the restaurant comes down to one question: “Will this enhance our guest’s experience?” If the answer is yes, he said it’s worth exploring, pushing the boundaries of a traditional restaurant experience.
“We believe the best restaurants honor their history while continuing to evolve, and that’s the balance we’ve worked to achieve for the past 34 years,” Burks said. “We know our guests have favorite dishes they've been enjoying for years, and those signature steaks and classic menu items are the foundation of who we are.”
The keys to success
When Burks opened Randy’s Steakhouse in 1992, he said his goal was “to create a restaurant where people could enjoy exceptional food, genuine hospitality and make lasting memories with friends.”
Located in the heart of Frisco’s Rail District, Burks reshaped the Victorian T.C. Campbell home into a steakhouse. In the following years, Frisco’s growth skyrocketed with the Rail District developing around the restaurant, giving Burks “a unique perspective,” on the city’s character.
“We’ve had the privilege of growing alongside the city while preserving a piece of its heritage,” Burks said. “Frisco has experienced incredible growth over the past three decades, and it's been amazing to watch the city evolve while Randy's Steakhouse has remained a part of its history.”
Since opening, he said everyone from city leaders and student-athletes to families, friends and local residents has walked through its doors, and he never took their support for granted.
“When we first opened, Frisco was a much smaller community,” Burks said. “We’ve been blessed with loyal guests, dedicated employees and a community that has supported us through both good times and challenging ones. Every anniversary is a reminder that relationships are the foundation of success.”
What’s next?
After 34 years of service to Frisco, Burks said he’s already thinking about what Randy’s Steakhouse will look like for the next generation of diners. While Burks is proud of the restaurant’s history, he said “we never want to be defined by it.”
“Every day we think about how to continue earning the trust of the next generation of diners while staying true to the values that have made Randy’s Steakhouse successful for 34 years,” Burks said. “If we keep delivering great food, genuine hospitality and an experience that people can’t find anywhere else, I believe Randy’s Steakhouse will continue to thrive for generations.”
After more than three decades in Frisco, Burks said he’s proud to see Randy’s become a place where families celebrate milestones, share memories and return year after year.
“This milestone represents years of hard work, perseverance and a true passion for serving people. I’m grateful for everyone who has been part of our journey, and I’m excited about what the future holds for Randy’s Steakhouse,” Burks said.
