Upcoming projects
Project: The city will be replacing 4,900 linear feet of street paving, sidewalks and barrier-free ramps, along with 250 linear feet of water line in some neighborhoods near Independence Parkway.
Update: Plano City Council approved a construction contract for the project at a June 22 meeting, and work is expected to start in July.
Project: Legacy Drive will be widened from Lebanon Road to Stonebrook Parkway. As part of the project, Stonebrook Parkway will also be widened from Legacy Drive to 4th Army Drive. The roadways will also be reconstructed along with the widening.
Update: The project is in the design phase and is expected to start construction later this year.
Project: New permanent traffic signals will be installed at Bloomdale Road's intersections with Hardin Boulevard and Community Avenue.
Update: The project is in the design phase, and construction is expected to start in fall 2027. Signals are expected to be operational by early 2027.
4. Highway Safety Improvement Program
Project: Updates include modernized traffic signals, upgraded equipment, increased capacity and enhanced pedestrian features.
Update: Upgrades were recently completed at three intersections, including lane configuration updates at Exchange Parkway and Rivercrest Boulevard, traffic signal upgrades at Main Street and Allen Drive, and turn lane realignment at Exchange Parkway and Allen Heights Drive. Traffic signal updates are in progress at Century Parkway and Bethany Drive, Greenville Avenue and Bethany Drive, and Main Street and Greenville Avenue.
Project: The Texas Department of Transportation is making improvements to I-35 as part of a project that will merge I-35E and I-35W.
Update: Exit 85B, the exit to Oak Street in Denton, is now being rerouted to Bonnie Brae Street off Exit 84. The exit is estimated to reopen in February 2027.
