Upcoming projects
1. US 75 Green Ribbon project
Project: The work will add enhancements to landscaping, erosion control, irrigation and new decorative rock to key intersections along the US 75 corridor, including Stacy Road, McDermott Drive and Bethany Drive.
Update: Texas Department of Transportation officials authorized advertising the construction project in early June. Officials expect to award the construction project by October.
2. Highway Safety Improvement Program
Project: Updates include modernized traffic signals, upgraded equipment, increased capacity and enhanced pedestrian features.
Update: Upgrades were recently completed at three intersections, including lane configuration updates at Exchange Parkway and Rivercrest Boulevard, traffic signal upgrades at Main Street and Allen Drive, and turn lane re-alignment at Exchange Parkway and Allen Heights Drive. Traffic signal updates are in progress at Century Parkway and Bethany Drive, Greenville Avenue and Bethany Drive, and Main Street and Greenville Avenue.
Project: City-led repairs and upgrades to neighborhood streets are underway across Allen as part of a city-led annual street maintenance program, including in the Hillside Village neighborhood. About 20,500 square yards of the neighborhood’s streets will see asphalt slurry seal applied, which is a surface treatment that will cover minor defects and improve the riding surface. The treatment is expected to extend the lifespan of the road by seven to eight years, city documents state.
Update: Efforts to apply slurry seal in the Hillside Village neighborhood are 90% completed and are slated for completion before the end of June.
Project: As part of a city-led, multi-year effort to improve neighborhood sidewalks, the Greengate neighborhood area and adjacent roadways, including parts of Allen Heights Drive, will see upgrades to pedestrian facilities. Repairs include addressing broken sidewalk ramps, alley approaches and sidewalk panels.
Update: Repairs along the south side of Marigold Drive and Edelweiss Drive up to the intersection of Adler Drive have been completed. Work is underway on the north side of Marigold Drive.
Project: As part of system maintenance of city utility infrastructure, replacement of sanitary sewer lines in and around the Oakhill neighborhood is planned. The project includes replacing about 5,785 linear feet of 8-inch sewer line within the Oakhill neighborhood as well as roughly 3,750 linear feet of 12-inch sewer line along Jupiter Road. The project will also include removal of dead or overgrown trees between the curb and sidewalk, repairs to sidewalk and roadway panels, installation of new solar-powered street lighting, median landscaping along Bethany Drive and installation of a neighborhood at the intersection of Jupiter Road and Bethany Drive.
Update: Around 1,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer work has been completed, and work is underway near Jupiter Road.
