Upcoming projects
Project: Surface improvements are planned on Mount Gilead Road from US 377 to Bourland Road in Keller. The work features three lanes with turn lanes, a trail along the north side of the road, a sidewalk along the south side of the roadway and a single-lane roundabout on Bourland Road, according to a council presentation on Aug. 4.
Update: Alonzo Liñán, director of public works, provided an update during the Aug. 4 council meeting. He said the design by firm Kimley-Horn was 98% done and the next step would be to award the contract in September.
Timeline: estimated construction is January 2027 to January 2029
Cost: $12.5 million-$13 million

Ongoing projects
Project: The city's streets department is conducting a road resurfacing project across multiple city streets throughout the month of September. The project is broken down into four phases:
First phase: Sept. 9-12, impacting 20 roads
Second phase: Sept. 14-19, affecting 30 roads
Third phase: Sept. 21-25, including 13 roads
Fourth phase: Sept. 28-29, affecting one road
Update: According to a city release, the project began Sept. 9 and will continue through Sept. 29.
Timeline: Sept. 9-Sept. 29
Cost: $2.86 million
Funding source: city of Denton
Project: The project is a full street reconstruction of Custer Parkway in Richardson from Campbell Road to Renner Road, including replacement of water and sewer lines and sidewalks.
Update: Pavement replacements on Custer from Lookout Drive to Canyon Creek Drive are ongoing and expected to finish in October. Work between the railroad just north of Cap Rock Drive and Campbell is expected to finish in November.
Timeline: winter 2021-fall 2026
Cost: $23.09 million
Funding source: city of Richardson
Project: Crews are reconstructing and widening Medical Center Drive in McKinney between Frisco Road and Spur 399. When finished, the road will be a continuous four-lane divided roadway.
Update: Construction is underway and approximately 70% complete.
Timeline: January 2026-December 2026
Cost: $5.2 million
Funding source: city of McKinney
Completed projects
Project: The city of Plano removed and rehabilitated existing concrete from an arterial road and did sidewalk repairs along Custer Road from Spring Creek Parkway to Hedgcoxe Road.
Update: Concrete repair from Spring Creek to Hedgcoxe has been completed. Construction between Hedgcoxe and SH 121 is still ongoing with an estimated completion in spring 2027.
