1. Mount Gilead Road
Project: Surface improvements are planned on Mount Gilead Road from US 377 to Bourland Road. The work features three lanes with turn lanes, a trail along the north side of the road, a sidewalk along the south side of the roadway and a single-lane roundabout on Bourland Road, according to a council presentation on Aug. 4.
Update: Alonzo Liñán, director of public works, provided an update during the Aug. 4 council meeting. He said the design by design firm Kimley-Horn was 98% done and the next step would be to award the contract in September.

2. North Oak Street construction
Project: Part of the Denton County 2022 bond, the work on North Oak Street is one of four projects that are part of interlocal agreements with the county and city. Construction will be between Byron Nelson Boulevard and Dorman Road and includes concrete curb and gutter with sidewalk and drainage improvements.
Update: The work is still in the design phase, according to Sandra Pettigrew, Roanoke’s public engagement manager.

3. SH 170 spur advancements
Project: The project will connect Intermodal Parkway in the AllianceTexas to Old Denton Road. A new 1.4-mile elevated bridge would be constructed from the main lanes east of I-35W to Intermodal Parkway, with associated roadways on either side, for a total of 2.4 miles. Nearly 10 additional acres would need to be purchased to construct the road, but no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
Update: Schematic design and environmental work would start in the spring of 2027, according to a news release.

4. North Walnut Street improvements
Project: Crews are constructing a new concrete street with curb and gutter drainage improvements. Sidewalks and street lighting from Byron Nelson Boulevard to North Oak Street will also be installed. Storm drainage improvements will occur along Lois Street, as well.
Update: Storm drain installation on North Walnut Street from Lois Street to North Oak Street was completed in August. North Oak Street is for residential traffic only from Byron Nelson Boulevard to James Street. Pettigrew said the street and sidewalk portion of the project should be completed by late October or early November.

5. North Beach Street/North Tarrant Parkway intersection updates
Project: There will be dual left-turn lanes, dedicated right-turn lanes, new traffic signals, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant ramps and pavement marking added at the intersection. The project is located in Council District 4 in Fort Worth.
Update: The project started on Aug. 24 and construction is scheduled weekly from Monday to Friday, according to a social media post shared by Council Member Charlie Lauersdorf.

- Cost: $4.5 million
- Funding source: city of Fort Worth 2022 bond
6. Elm Street reconstruction
Project: The scope of the project includes widening and reconstructing the road, improving utilities and drainage and adding parking, sidewalks, seating, landscaping, lighting and wayfinding signage. This project started in March of 2025, according to previous reporting.
Update: According to Keller communication specialist Randy White, the next step for the project is demolition of the Elm Street bridge.
