The overview
The contract for the intersection improvements for $1.173 million include removal of existing northbound and southbound lanes right-turn slip lanes, which was recommended by a study of the intersection. A slip lane allows traffic turning right to separate from through traffic at an intersection.
The contract also includes improvements to the sidewalk and ramps, replacing traffic signals, inlet and storm drain relocation, and pavement marking and striping, according to city documents.
Pedestrian improvements include directional ramps at each corner of the intersection.
What’s else?
Construction is expected to begin in April and be completed by January 2026. The contract was awarded to Texas Standard Construction and funding comes from the Dallas Area Rapid Transit public transportation improvement fund.
