The purchase was supplemented by a $103 million federal grant and is a step in DART’s mission to become a “best-in-class” mobility partner in North Texas through its DART Transform Program, the release said.
The overview
The goal of the DART Transform Program is to move to modernization of the transit system through investments that will work to enhance safety, reliability and accessibility, per the release.
The new buses and replacing older units in the fleet with light-rail vehicles are the largest piece of the program.
