Despite COVID-19 shutdowns, the city of Richardson says work on its $16 million Main Street redevelopment project is still on track.

In late April, the city announced that pavement installation will continue over the coming weeks and should wrap up around the end of May. At that time, traffic will be realigned, but only one lane will remain open.

Improvements on Main will pave the way for installation of wider sidewalks with new lighting, picnic tables, benches, bike racks, enhanced landscaping and new open space, according to the city.

Construction crews continue to work four 10-hour days a week to account for potential setbacks, including poor weather, according to the city.

Work is expected to conclude in the first quarter of 2021, weather permitting.
