$9 million construction set for West Shore Drive in Richardson

Road work on a section of West Shore Drive is set to start in November after Richardson City Council approved a construction contract during its Oct. 20 meeting.

The project will include replacement of street and alley pavement, waterline improvements and the widening of sidewalks along the roadway and Fontana Avenue. Work on waterlines, corner ramps and pedestrian crossings will also take place at West Shore Drive’s intersection with Arapaho Road.

The project will cost $9.47 million and is funded by the city’s 2021 bond. Work is expected to be completed by spring 2027, according to city documents.


Richardson council eyes infrastructure, drainage as priorities for potential 2026 bond

Richardson staff and City Council is gearing up for a potential bond election next year.

Council began the process of refining the $200 million bond referendum that Richardson voters would see on their May 2026 ballot during its Oct. 6 work session.

Specific projects and proposition sizes were not yet discussed on Oct. 6, but City Manager Don Magner gave council an overview of potential proposition breakdowns as well as an overview of the city’s past bond programs.


Council discussed potential priorities, including a continuing focus on infrastructure.

Heights Family Aquatic Center to get new shade, play structure

Richardson residents can expect to see an improved play structure, new shade canopies and other renovations to the Heights Family Aquatic Center next summer.

Richardson City Council approved an $868,452 construction contract for renovations to the Heights Family Aquatic Center at an Oct. 13 meeting.


The renovation plans are part of the city’s Aquatics Master Plan, which was passed earlier this year in an effort to modernize the city’s aquatic facilities and programming.
