Two projects costing more than $1.75 million for storm drainage improvements and stormwater repairs are set to start in Richardson.

Richardson City Council approved contracts for the pair of projects at its Sept. 22 meeting.

The storm drainage improvements will increase the size of storm drain mains and construct additional inlets to minimize flooding during the 100-year rainfall events on sections of the following roadways:
  • Thompson Drive
  • Edith Circle
  • Laguna Drive
  • Tam O’Shanter Lane
The project will cost $1.4 million from the city’s drainage fund.

A contract for $352,000 work on stormwater repairs was also approved at the meeting.


The project will repair pipes in locations identified as “priority repairs” in the annual stormwater system assessment, according to city documents.

The locations for the work include sections of the following roadways:
  • Sheffield Drive
  • Tiffany Trail
  • Sunningdale (alley)
  • Centennial Boulevard
  • Frances Way
  • East Belt Line Road
  • Wake Drive
  • South Bowser Road
The timeline

Both projects are expected to start in November. Construction on the drainage improvements is expected to be complete by October 2026, while the stormwater repairs look to finish by March 2026.
