A new event center could be coming soon to Richardson after City Council approved a special use permit during its Feb. 24 meeting.

The center will be located within the Corporate Plaza office building located at 1101 E. Arapaho Road.

The preliminary building plan shows a 2,600-square-foot event hall, with seating for 93 people and smaller rooms designed for preparation and storage, according to city documents.

The details

The event center will be called The Event Factory, Assistant Director of Development Andrew Bogda said. It is set to be located north of Arapaho Road, and will total 4,366 square feet. The center will host weddings, baby showers, quinceañeras, corporate meetings, conferences and community classes such as yoga and painting classes.

The permit limited the center’s hours of operations from 5 p.m.-midnight on Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m.-1 a.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m.-midnight on Sundays.

What else?

The center will not serve alcohol or food, Event Factory owner Iris Moctezuma said. Someone organizing an event will have to provide a license if they intend to sell alcohol, she said.
